Global solar solutions provider GoodWe has launched the EO G2, a next generation off grid inverter developed to meet the changing energy needs of households, small businesses and communities across Africa.
The company positions the new solution as a response to persistent power challenges across the continent, including outages, unstable grids and limited rural electrification. According to Lucas Lu, Managing Director for Africa at GoodWe, the focus has shifted from simple access to solar toward consistent and reliable energy delivery under real operating conditions.
He said customers are increasingly prioritising long term value over upfront cost, with durability, environmental resilience and service support now central to purchasing decisions. The EO G2 has been developed to address these requirements in demanding African environments.
The inverter is engineered for harsh conditions, featuring an IP66 rating that protects against dust and moisture. Its enclosed design includes a reinforced sealing system that improves resistance to environmental ingress. The unit can operate across a wide temperature range from -35°C to +60°C, supporting stable performance in both extreme heat and colder regions. Integrated ground fault protection enhances safety through real time fault detection and rapid shutdown capability.
GoodWe also emphasises lifecycle performance, noting that maintenance, replacement and downtime can significantly increase total system costs over time. The EO G2 supports a 21A PV input current and allows 200% PV oversizing, enabling higher solar energy capture and improved system output.
When combined with the Lynx A G4 low voltage battery, the system delivers an integrated storage solution designed for long term use. The battery supports up to 10,000 charge cycles and a lifetime energy throughput of up to 53MWh. Based on an average household consumption of 5kWh per day, this equates to approximately 18 years of energy supply.
The storage system is scalable, allowing users to start with smaller capacities such as 5kWh and expand over time. Compatibility between new and existing battery units reduces upgrade complexity and protects investment value. Safety is supported through multi-layer protection features including intelligent monitoring, cell level isolation and active fire suppression.

EO G2 is designed as a flexible energy platform that can integrate solar panels, battery storage, generators, grid connections and smart loads. This enables users to build tailored energy systems suited to specific residential or commercial needs.
With the Lynx A G4 battery, the inverter delivers backup power with a switching time of less than 4 milliseconds, helping maintain continuous operation of essential loads during outages. The system also supports parallel connection of up to 10 units, enabling larger off grid installations.
Installation and operation are simplified through pre-configured settings and a built in 4.3 inch touchscreen. Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity enable wireless setup and real time monitoring via mobile applications.
With the launch of EO G2, GoodWe aims to strengthen its presence in emerging markets by offering reliable, scalable and efficient energy solutions that support greater energy independence across Africa.
