- The first phase of the SlimSun Too Solar development, a 5.6 MW renewable energy project in Malmesbury, is entering its final commissioning stage and will soon begin supplying electricity to South African businesses through Energy Exchange of Southern Africa (EXSA).
Valued at R87 million, the project was developed in partnership with independent power producer Sustainable Power Solutions (SPS). SPS bought 100% shares in this project, which will consist of 2 phases with another 4.6 MW to be added. Financial close for the next phase has already been achieved, with construction expected to commence in the coming months. The plants nominal DC capacity will be 11 200 kWp, installed on a single axis tracking system feeding energy into the Eskom Eenboom substation.

The project reached financial close with funding from Investec, supported by a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA). EXSA, a licensed power trader backed by Remgro and Rand Merchant Bank, secured its trading licence in 2022 and will distribute the solar energy to corporate clients including Woolworths, Mediclinic, and the Delaire Graff Estate, among others.
