Kenya: JinkoSolar Launches New Tiger Neo N-Type Solar Panel in Nairobi

  • JinkoSolar, one of the largest and most innovative solar module manufacturers in the world, today launched their new N-Type module, the Tiger Neo at the Boma Hotel in Nairobi.

Tiger Neo produces over 3% more power than its P-PERC counterparts owing to its benefits including lower degradation, higher-temperature performance, better low light performance in the morning and later afternoon, lower rate of LID (light-induced degradation) and does not suffer from the effects LeTID (light and elevated temperature induced degradation), unlike P-type cells. The main motivation behind the development of more powerful solar panels such as Tiger Neo is to reduce the cost of utility-scale solar farms and ultimately electricity prices.

Also during the launch JinkoSolar launched its energy storage solutions (ESS) for residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications. The solutions ranged from 1kwh to 2200kwh. Titus Koech who is the Technical Service Manager from JinkoSolar stated that the new storage solutions will play a big role in promoting rural electrification in Kenya and East Africa at large. He also added that they have already shipped a couple of solutions for C&I and residential customers in Kenya, Zambia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Botswana among other countries.

A recent study from China Export, one of the trusted sources of market information in China, indicates that Jinko was the leading PV module importer in Kenya for 2021. The China market Brand report shows that the five leading vendors in Kenya for the year 021 accounted for more than 80% of the PV modules in the market, with Jinko taking the top spot after shipping close to 50MW of PV modules, approximately 50% of the total market share.

As a world-leading solar module manufacturer, Jinko Solar remains the only manufacturer producing n-type mass production, while other tier 1 manufacturers are still in the pilot stage. By using intelligent equipment and quality control systems, JinkoSolar continues to set industry standards for intelligent premium quality manufacturing.

Present in the event were representatives for KEREA, REREC, KCCI, Kenya Association of manufacturers among other big players in the renewable energy market in Kenya.
