JinkoSolar Holding Co., Ltd. has announced that its North American energy storage division, Jinko ESS, has achieved IEC 62443 2 4 certification from exida, a globally recognised authority in industrial cybersecurity and functional safety.
IEC 62443 2 4 is an internationally respected standard that defines best practice for secure development lifecycle processes for service providers operating industrial automation and control systems. The certification confirms that cybersecurity is embedded throughout system design, development, integration, testing, deployment and lifecycle management, rather than being treated as an add on feature.
Jinko ESS has adopted a secure by design philosophy since the inception of its energy storage business. The company has steadily increased investment in cybersecurity governance, engineering capability and control frameworks, recognising that modern energy infrastructure requires the same level of rigour as critical industrial systems.
Jeff Juger, US Managing Director of Jinko ESS, said cybersecurity is embedded into the company’s operational DNA. He noted that from system architecture and supplier selection through to incident response planning, cybersecurity principles guide decision making across the organisation.
The IEC 62443 2 4 certification verifies that Jinko ESS operates a formal and audited secure development lifecycle. It confirms integration of threat modelling, risk assessment and secure supply chain management, alongside structured vulnerability management and patch processes. The assessment also validates the application of cybersecurity controls across people, process and products.
According to Michael Medoff, Director of Certification at exida, the certification demonstrates that Jinko ESS has implemented the integration, maintenance and governance processes required to safeguard critical infrastructure. The independent validation provides assurance to utilities, data centres, regulators and enterprise customers operating in high risk environments that security is embedded throughout the service lifecycle.
