Tender Notice
- eThekwini (formally Durban) Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) has issued a request for Request for Information (RFI) for the possible procurement of 400MW from diverse mix of sustainable, dispatchable and reliable power generation technologies.
- South Africa’s gazetted amendments to the Electricity Regulations on New Generation Capacity (2011) of Electricity Regulation Act (No 4 of 2006) authorizes a municipality to procure new generation capacity in accordance with the Integrated Resource Plan.
- The primary reason for the RFI is to mitigate the impact of loadshedding to EMM’s economy.
The aim is to immediately mitigate the impact of loadshedding to the local economy, create sustainable jobs across the entire energy value chain and lower the prices of electricity for our residential, commercial and industrial customers.
The EMM calls for all potential private developers, investors and experienced energy infrastructure organizations to submit information relevant to the RFI requirements. Participants are requested to submit RFI before the deadline and without paying monies to anyone. The RFI is free of charge.
The purpose of the RFI is to gather information that will support investigation and preparation of procurement by the EMM and identify opportunities in the market for alternative power generation capacity within the eThekwini region.
