  • Project developed alongside 60 MW Sidi Bouzid plant, marking Scatec’s first operational assets in Tunisia.

Scatec ASA together with Aeolus SAS, part of Toyota Tsusho Group, has reached commercial operations date for the 60 MW Tozeur solar power plant in Tunisia with retroactive effect from 4 March 2026.

The project will generate predictable long term revenues under a 30 year power purchase agreement with the Tunisian state utility owned electricity and gas company STEG.

The Tozeur facility has been developed in parallel with the 60 MW Sidi Bouzid solar plant, which reached commercial operations date in March with retroactive effect to 1 January 2026. Both projects were awarded through a government tender process and form part of Tunisia’s broader strategy to decarbonise its power sector and strengthen energy security.

The Sidi Bouzid and Tozeur projects represent the first Scatec developed assets to reach commercial operation in Tunisia, marking a key milestone in the company’s expansion across the region.

Scatec chief executive Terje Pilskog said that the start of operations at Tozeur alongside Sidi Bouzid establishes a solid platform for growth in Tunisia, highlighting the company’s execution capability and the attractiveness of the market. He added that with additional projects already in the pipeline, Scatec is positioned to continue expanding its presence and support Tunisia’s energy transition.

Together, the two solar plants are expected to produce approximately 288 GWh of clean electricity annually, supporting the avoidance of more than 115,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. Scatec holds a 51% ownership stake in the projects, while Aeolus holds 49%. The company will also provide operations and maintenance services as well as asset management for both facilities.
