- Insurance giant Sanlam has commissioned a grid-tied 3 MW solar project at its head Belville head office campus in Cape Town.
- The solar carport system also features three EV charge stations.
- Sanlam is conducting feasibility studies to deploy similar projects at other Sanlam-owned buildings.
“It was a real honour for me to unveil the plaque at Sanlam’s Bellville Head Office, marking the official launch of their 3MW solar PV system and EV charging stations. With over 6 million kWh removed from the national grid annually — enough to power 580 homes — and R175 million in projected savings over 20 years, this investment is a strong signal of business confidence in Bellville and our city. It aligns with our economic growth mission for Cape Town: driving sustainability, reducing pressure on public infrastructure, and supporting resilient business operations in key economic nodes,” said Mr James Vos: Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth.
