  • South Africa’s Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) has approved three new NQF Level 4 green hydrogen skills programmes developed by the Chemical Industries Education and Training Authority (CHIETA): Green Hydrogen Production, Green Hydrogen Storage and Transfer, and Green Hydrogen Technology.
  • The programmes are designed to help individuals gain the necessary skills for working in hydrogen fuel cell manufacturing and related industries.

Once accredited by QCTO, training centres across the country are able to offer the programmes, with CHIETA providing strategic guidance and support.

“Green hydrogen has the potential to power inclusive industrial growth, support decarbonisation, and promote sustainability. This is about future-proofing our workforce and ensuring no one is left behind in the energy transition,” said CHIETA CEO Yershen Pillay.

Green Building Africa promotes the need for net carbon zero buildings and cities in Africa. We are fiercely independent and encourage outlying thinkers to contribute to the #netcarbonzero movement. Climate change is upon us and now is the time to react in a more diverse and broader approach to sustainability in the built environment. We challenge architects, property developers, urban planners, renewable energy professionals and green building specialists. We also challenge the funding houses and regulators and the role they play in facilitating investment into green projects. Lastly, we explore and investigate new technology and real-time data to speed up the journey in realising a net carbon zero environment for our children.
