  • NOA Group has reached financial close on Wind Garden, a 94.5 MW wind energy project located near Makhanda in the Eastern Cape.
  • This marks the company’s first wholly owned large-scale wind project to reach this milestone, with construction already underway.

The project, the company’s second wind development financed by Standard Bank Groupโ€”will comprise 21 Vestas turbines and is expected to generate approximately 287 GWh of clean energy annually, offsetting more than 304,000 tonnes of COโ‚‚ each year. Power will be delivered to commercial and industrial users through our grid-wheeled energy platform.

โ€œWind Garden marks a major step in NOA Groupโ€™s expansion of its national footprint, designed to build a robust portfolio of renewable energy generation assets. Achieving these goals relies on strong financial partnerships, which are essential to unlocking private investment that supports both economic recovery and South Africaโ€™s decarbonisation ambitions,โ€ said Karel Cornelissen, CEO of NOA Group.

“Construction of Wind Garden commenced in early 2025, and we were proud to mark this key milestone yesterday, 7 May, with a formal ground-breaking ceremony attended by our project partners and stakeholders,” the company concluded.
