Natura Energy has reached financial close on the 31MWp Phase 1A of the Parsons Power Park solar PV project in Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape, marking a significant milestone for the independent power producer and its partners.

The project was developed from greenfield stage to bankability and closure under the leadership of Natura Energy, working in close collaboration with co sponsor Raw Renewables. The transaction represents one of the most notable recent private sector renewable energy financings in the Eastern Cape, particularly within a municipal wheeling and off-taker framework.

A 25 year Power Purchase Agreement has been secured with POWERX, providing long term revenue certainty for the project. Standard Bank acted as Arranger and Lender, supporting the project’s funding structure and financial close.

Corporate advisory services were provided by Balmoral Projects. The owner advisory team included 3E Renewables, Cresco Project Finance, ENS, SKR Consulting and Marsh, while the lender advisory team comprised Bowman’s, Arup, CAPIC and AON. Co investors include Yellow Door Energy.

Parsons Power Park is now the largest utility scale generation facility connected directly to the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality electricity network. The municipality played a key role in enabling the project through constructive engagement during the development and approvals process.

Construction will commence with EPC contractor Alensy Energy Solutions, with the project set to deliver clean and reliable power into the municipal grid. The development further strengthens the Eastern Cape’s renewable energy pipeline and contributes to South Africa’s broader energy transition and security objectives.
