- Namibia’s state owned energy utility, NamPower, has opened an international call for bids to develop six new solar photovoltaic (PV) power projects, each with a capacity of 20 megawatts, under an Independent Power Producer (IPP) framework.
- The utility announced that it is seeking proposals from qualified, experienced, and properly registered companies capable of delivering large-scale renewable energy projects.
The tender, issued under Bid Number G/OIB/NPWR-03/2026, forms part of NamPower’s ongoing efforts to expand Namibia’s clean energy capacity and strengthen electricity supply through partnerships with private power producers.
According to the announcement, the clarification period for interested bidders will close on 13 January 2026 at 16:30 Namibian Time, while final bid submissions are due by 30 January 2026 at 10:00 Namibian Time.
NamPower noted that all technical details, requirements, and submission procedures are outlined in the official tender documents. The utility encouraged eligible companies to participate, highlighting the strategic importance of the new solar projects for the country’s energy future.
