- Morocco’s agency for solar energy, MASEN, and the country’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development have announced the results of phase one of the mega project Nor II solar energy tender.
- Nor II is a multi-site solar energy project with a total capacity set at 400MW, according to the joint press release.

The Moroccan agency for solar power announced that 13 of the 14 projects are already awarded to private companies. Thirteen of a total of fourteen projects have been awarded to independent power producers. The combined capacity over seven selected sites is 333 MW.
The winning bidders are:
- Taqa Morocco in Sidi Bennour (lots 1 to 4) – 48MW and Kelaa Sraghna (lot 5) – 48MW
- Enel Green Power Morocco in Bejaad (lots 6 to 9) – 48MW
- AMEA Power in Taroudant (lot 10) – 36MWand El Hajeb (lot 11) – 36MW
- Voltalia Morocco in Guercif (lot 12) – 48MW and Ain Beni Mathar (lot 13) – 69MW
The seven selected sites were chosen and qualified on the basis of several criteria, including the suitability of solar PV technology, accessibility, topography, and the impact of the project on the territory and environment.
This new phase follows the success of the 600MW Noor 1 complex situated in Ouarzazat.
Morocco has recently increased its clean energy targets from 45% to 52% by 2030, 70% by 2040 and 80% by 2050, making the country one of the most ambitious future clean economies in the world.
