Zambia Issues EOI for Consultancy in Mini-Grid and Off-Grid Preparation, Feasibility and Regulatory Design

  • The Zambian Rural Electrification Authority (REA) is calling for qualified consulting firms for the consultancy for the preparation of Mini-grid and Off-grid projects by undertaking of feasibility studies and designing of regulations.
  • The main objective of this consultancy will be to undertake feasibility studies for potential rural electrification mini-grid and off-grid projects, prepare minigrid and off grid project packages and design regulations within the rural electrification space.
The specific objectives of this assignment will be as follows:
  1. To undertake desk study and stakeholder consultation to ascertain potential renewable energy sites;
  2. To undertake feasibility studies for selected hydro, solar and biomass project sites and package them into bankable projects;
  3. To develop a developer’s guide to accessing land rights;
  4. To undertake study on the adoption of cook stoves in rural and urban areas including facilitation for the development of standards for Improved Cook Stoves; and
  5. To train REA and MoE officers in designing and implementing renewable energy projects.
