World Energy Council’s CEO to Speak at Africa Energy Indaba 2019

  • Dr Christoph Frei will be a keynote speaker at the 11th edition of the Africa Energy Indaba, which returns to the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg from 19 – 20 February 2019.

Christoph Frei is the World Energy Council’s fifth Secretary General. Since joining the World Energy Council in 2009, Dr Frei’s priorities have been to mobilise international energy leaders and decision-makers to work together towards building a sustainable future, underpinned by robust policymaking.

“Energy is undergoing a deep transition,” Christoph says. “The World Energy Council is uniquely placed in being able to bring high-level decision-makers together for dialogue on critical challenges, opportunities and relevant best practices.  We act as a catalyst for change to ensure energy is a foundation for prosperity.”

Dr Frei’s main focus has been to provide world decision-makers with the necessary evidence base and the high-level dialogue platform for energy policies to address the ‘Energy Trilemma’ – the trade-offs between energy security, energy affordability, and environmental impact mitigation.

Christoph will be attending and is a keynote speaker at the 11th edition of the Africa Energy Indaba, which returns to the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg from 19 – 20 February 2019.

Under Dr Frei’s leadership, the World Energy Council has expanded and developed its policy and business insight processes and formed major partnerships which have enhanced the impact and relevance of the 90-year-old organisation.
