World Bank Provides US$96 Million for 60MW Solar Project in Liberia

  • The World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) and the Liberian Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has signed off on a US$96 million loan for the development of 60 MW Solar PV project at Mount Coffee.  

Monie Captan, the chairman of the board of the state-owned Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) confirmed that the solar plant will be built in two phases, 20MW and 40MW.

The loan to Liberia is part of a US$311 million financing package announced by the World Bank for renewable energy in West Africa and Chad. Read more
