- The UNDP is planning to install a solar PV mini grid in one rural community in The Gambia
- The initiative be implemented by the UNDP The Gambia County Office in close collaboration with the Ministry of Petroleum, Energy and Mines (MoPEM), the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) and the beneficiary community.
- The installation of the solar facility will be contracted to a qualified solar company or firm.
Under the supervision of the Team Leader of the Environment Cluster, the contractor will be responsible for the following tasks/activities:
- Supervision of Installation Work: Oversee the materials and the installation of the solar PV microgrid to ensure compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
- Support in the tender process: by providing technical input to the clarifications to bidders and participate in the technical evaluation of the bids.
- Review and clearing of technical reports: Evaluate and approve technical reports related to the construction of the PV microgrid, including the detailed site investigation report, the Detailed Design, the Detailed Engineering Report, Training Materials and the Maintenance Manuals.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all designs, materials, and workmanship meet the requirements set in the contract and the required quality standards.
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support to the installation contractors as needed.
- Reporting: Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the UNDP The Gambia Country Office, highlighting any issues and recommendations for improvement.
