  • Scope includes subsea infrastructure manufacturing and installation

TechnipFMC has been awarded a major Engineering Procurement Construction and Installation contract by Eni S.p.A. for the Coral North floating liquefied natural gas development offshore Mozambique. The project marks the second floating liquefied natural gas facility in the country and follows the successful delivery of Coral South which began operations in 2022.

The Coral North development is located in offshore Area 4 in water depths of approximately 2,000 metres. According to Eni, the project will duplicate and complement Coral South, enabling further development of Mozambique’s offshore gas resources.

Under the contract, TechnipFMC will manufacture and install flexible flowlines and risers and will also be responsible for the installation of subsea manifolds and umbilicals. The award represents TechnipFMC’s second major deepwater gas development in Mozambique.

Jonathan Landes, President Subsea at TechnipFMC, said the company would draw on its experience from the Coral South project, which was the world’s first floating liquefied natural gas development in ultradeep water. He added that TechnipFMC will replicate its proven execution approach while applying enhancements gained from lessons learned during the earlier project.

The Coral North project strengthens Mozambique’s position as a key emerging gas producer in Africa.
