South Africa’s ports authority issues RFP for 3MW solar/battery hybrid plant at East London port

  • South Africa’s state owned ports authority, Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for the design (including environmental permitting), build, install, test and commissioning of the 3MW solar pv plant and 1.5MWh battery, for a period of 7 years (2 years for construction & 5 years for operations and maintenance) at the port of East London.
  • The closing date for submissions is 9/16/2024 4:00:00 PM.

TNPA is expected to  procure of between 50 MW and 80 MW of renewable energy from independent power producers (IPP’s). In June TNPA issued three RFPs for the construction of two Solar-Powered Seawater Desalination Plants and a Renewable Energy Power System at its Nelson Mandela Bay Ports.Read more
