South Africa’s Energy Regulator Invites Comment on Strategy for Gas, Renewable Energy and Hydrogen

  • South Africa’s energy regulator, NERSA, has invited all stakeholders to provide written comments on the issues raised in the consultation document concerning the development of the strategy for a gas, renewable energy and hydrogen partnership in South Africa.

The consultation document is intended to assist NERSA in soliciting stakeholder views and perspectives on the prospects of achieving a coordinated development of gas alongside renewable energy and hydrogen in the South African energy markets.

In particular, this consultation seeks insights into the current realities for gas in the evolving energy transition environment. It also explores the related opportunities and challenges that may be critical to charting the strategic path forward for further development of the gas industry in South Africa.

The closing date for the submission of comments is Friday, 13 January 2023.
