- South Africa’s state owned energy utility, Eksom, has announced that starting from today, Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 until 05:00 every morning until further notice.
- The nightly implementation of loadshedding is mainly due to the need to preserve emergency generation reserves owing to a high level of breakdowns.
Of the total 44000MW total generation capacity, Eskom currently has 4963MW on planned maintenance, while another 14 107MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns.
