Solar Business Basics Course Launches in Johannesburg in March

  • Complimenting their existing and highly successful range of solar PV training courses, the GREEN Solar Academy has added a new course, Solar Business Basics, for those who want to know more about the business side of solar photovoltaics or are thinking of entering the industry.
  • No calculations, no technical pre-knowledge needed.
  • Learn all you need to know about solar -from a non-technical perspective.
  • The course runs for three days 3 days from Tuesday 22 March from 8am through to Thursday 24th 4PM at the Parktonian Hotel Parkade, 120 De Korte Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg Gauteng 2000, South Africa.

GREEN Solar Academy is never one to rest on its laurels and is constantly innovating and developing new trainings to meet the needs of the wide variety of people seeking a career in solar energy. Their latest offering is an absolute entry-level course called Solar Business Basics.

It is the ideal introduction to solar energy for both career changers and school leavers, with the option to continue with more advanced trainings if desired.

The Solar Business Basics course was developed for people without a technical background such as sales and administration staff, managers who don’t need a deep dive into the technicalities, solar company staff who only need basics as well as industry newcomers and youth looking for basic solar education.

Over the course of three days, you will understand the technical terms required to sell PV systems and grasp the business aspects of solar PV without having to go into complicated detail or calculations. Learn about the basics of solar electricity, the function, quality and selection criteria of all components in a system, types of PV systems and their advantages, safety measures, renewable energy laws and regulations, and how to sell solar PV.

GREEN Technical Content Director Vivian Blümel explains the rationale behind the development of this course:

“We had several requests from attendees of our intermediate SuperSuperSchool course for a training that focused more on the business aspects of solar energy, to empower general office staff who weren’t necessarily doing the design of a system or the physical installation.

Solar Business Basics would be the ideal vehicle to get your star salesperson up to speed with the terminology and the different solutions available to clients, for example; they don’t need to be the most technically-adept but they need to be able to communicate properly with both the end user and the engineers in their office, and this course will give them the skills they need to do their job to their best ability from the start.

“Those who specialise in marketing, admin, sales, management, financing even, will now have a suitable knowledge base to be an asset to the solar installation company where they are employed. One could even follow up with our 1-day Financing of PV Systems course, focusing on calculating the financial viability of PV solar systems.

“Those who want do want to delve deeper into system sizing, design and installation can continue on to the SuperSolarSchool 5-day training, a more technical and calculations-based training, and eventually from there go on to write the PV GreenCard assessment, the industry trade test.”

The Solar Business Basics course costs R6 900 ex VAT per person and takes place at our Johannesburg academy on 22 to 24 March and 3 to 5 May 2022. Climate change is upon us and now is the time to react in a more diverse and broader approach to sustainability in the built environment. We challenge architects, property developers, urban planners, renewable energy professionals and green building specialists. We also challenge the funding houses and regulators and the role they play in facilitating investment into green projects. Lastly, we explore and investigate new technology and real-time data to speed up the journey in realising a net carbon zero environment for our children.
