  • Singapore’s EliTe Solar has started construction of a new solar PV manufacturing facility within the Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone.
  • The facility will be constructed with a planned capacity of 5GW, covering an area of 78,000m2.
  • The production, which is expected to start in September 2025, will include 2GW solar cell and 3GW solar panel production lines.

The project is poised to introduce advanced energy manufacturing technologies to Egypt, enhancing the local solar industry’s supply chain and elevating Egypt’s export capabilities in the solar market. It is anticipated to be a catalyst for the local economy and a pivotal component in achieving Egypt’s 2030 renewable energy target, which aims for a 42% clean energy transformation.

China-Africa TEDA Investment chairman Li Daixin said: “This project not only strengthens Egypt’s solar industry but also positions the country as a key solar manufacturing hub in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). It enhances supply chain capabilities while providing crucial support for global renewable energy growth.”

EliTe Solar has previously established manufacturing hubs in Vietnam, Indonesia, and now Egypt.
