The South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) has announced its new Board of Governance, where Tebogo Movundlela, has been elected as the new Chair.

Movundlela will lead the association as it continues to pioneer the sustainable development of the Wind sector in South Africa.

“My vision is to help drive wind power to be the lead provider of clean, reliable and affordable energy in South Africa and for the industry to be a key player in inclusive socio-economic transformation and growth,” commented Movundlela.

She has been involved in the industry since 2013, as Chief Financial Officer of West Coast 1, a 94MW wind-powered facility. She now leads the team responsible for the ongoing operations and asset management of the facility, as Aurora Wind Power’s Chief Executive Officer.

Through her experience, she has also played a pivotal role in the establishment of ENGIE Southern Africa’s finance department as well as the financial close of Kathu Solar Park, a 100MW CSP facility.

“We are extremely proud to have Tebogo Movundlela taking up the role of Chair and have no doubt that her vision for this young industry will help us to impact our sector in a positive and lasting fashion,” said Brenda Martin, CEO of SAWEA.

Movundlela leads a women-dominated Board of Governance that has simultaneously taken up positions on the board.  These include Anne Henschel, Katherine Persson, Mercia Grimbeek, Ntombifuthi Ntuli, Dr Tobias Bischof-Niemz and Brenda Martin (ex-officio).
