- This past Saturday, 1 February, Edgemead High School participated in a Big Schools Beach Cleanup with Save a Fishie at Milnerton Lagoon.
Zoë Prinsloo, founder and owner of Save a Fishie, who also happens to be the Schools Interact Club President organized the event with Cape Town Beach Cleanup as part of a month-long schools beach cleanup project!
Zoë, a 17-year-old environmental activist who last year attended the UN Youth Climate Summit in New York City, says she was so excited to see so many people volunteer and come to help clean the beach. “When I arrived at the Lagoon I was so excited to see that the city had recently done a big cleanup and that the lagoon was looking better that it has in a long time, yet, but, despite that, we STILL managed to collect a staggering 17 bags of litter off the beach! I am so grateful for everyone that came out to help!”
Zoë runs regular cleanups at the Lagoon and those wanting to help at the next cleanup can follow her Facebook page called Save a Fishie.
