  • Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Director General/CEO of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), unveiled the Renewed Hope Solarization Project during a press briefing in Abuja.
  • This initiative will deliver 2 megawatts of clean, renewable energy to each of the 37 federal universities across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ensuring sustainable and reliable power for academic institutions.

The government will also install 2-megawatt solar hybrid systems in each of the 37 tertiary hospitals nationwide. This strategic effort aims to enhance healthcare delivery by providing dependable, eco-friendly energy to critical medical facilities, advancing Nigeria’s sustainable development goals.

Addressing public concerns over the ₦10 billion approval for solar electricity at the Presidential Villa, Dr. Abdullahi reaffirmed its alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for energy prosperity. He emphasised that the project supports broader efforts to ensure stable electricity and deploy prepaid meters nationwide, propelling Nigeria toward a greener, more resilient energy future.
