Kiyona Energy invites bids for 25MW solar power project in Lusaka

  • Kiyona Energy Limited (KEL) has launched an open national tender for the development of a 25MW solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant to be constructed near the Waterworks Substation in Lusaka.
  • The project, to be delivered under an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) model, is advertised under tender reference KEL/009/2025.

According to the notice published on 4 December 2025, the scheme will be situated within the 132kV wayleave and falls under the power-generation category of the UNSPSC. Interested firms are required to submit their bids online via the e-GP system.

The procurement will be conducted through a single-stage, open bidding procedure, with evaluation based on the Least Cost Selection (LCS) method. The contract will be awarded to the best-evaluated bidder, and no post-qualification or local preference provisions will apply. The tender is not divided into lots.

A participation fee of ZMW 1,000 is payable, either online or offline. No bid security is required.

The deadline for bid submission is 10:00 on 9 January 2026, with bids scheduled to be opened at 10:30 the same day. The clarification period will close at 16:00 on 26 December 2025.

This tender marks a significant step in KEL’s efforts to expand renewable-energy capacity and enhance power-generation infrastructure within Zambia.
