  • The project supports lower electricity costs through peak and valley optimisation and coordinated solar storage and charging.
  • Deployment improves renewable energy use and power reliability for a large commercial public facility.
  • Solution demonstrates applicability of large scale storage in complex market environments.

Jinko ESS, a global energy storage solution provider and a subsidiary of Jinko Solar Co Ltd, has completed the deployment of a 10 MWh energy storage project in Handan City in China’s Hebei Province.

The project is located at Chaomeng Agricultural Market, the largest agricultural trading hub in the local area. It consists of two SunTera G2 liquid cooled energy storage systems, each with a capacity of 5 MWh. The installation is designed to reduce electricity costs for the market and its integrated solar storage and electric vehicle charging station by optimising electricity use between peak and off peak periods.

Through the coordinated operation of solar generation, battery storage and charging infrastructure, the system increases the local consumption of renewable energy while improving overall power supply stability. This provides consistent and reliable electricity for merchants, cold storage facilities and other market operations that depend on uninterrupted power.

The SunTera G2 system was selected to suit the specific operating conditions of an agricultural market, including high pedestrian traffic, open spaces and concentrated electricity demand. Safety is a key design focus, with an intelligent battery management system and multi level early warning features to mitigate thermal risks in public environments.

The system delivers a round trip efficiency of 94 percent and a lifecycle of more than 8,000 cycles, enabling effective use of time of use electricity pricing to reduce long term operating costs. It also offers IP55 protection and C5 corrosion resistance, allowing for stable outdoor operation under demanding environmental conditions.

Commenting on the project, Damon Duan, General Manager of Jinko ESS China, said the deployment highlights the suitability of large scale energy storage in complex commercial settings.

“The SunTera G2 system combines high safety, reliability and cost effectiveness to deliver strong energy support for large public facilities such as agricultural markets,” Duan said. “We will continue to promote integrated solar storage and charging solutions across a wider range of applications to support greener and more resilient urban infrastructure.”
