  • JA Solar will supply its DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules to a groundbreaking 440 MW PV Project in Bayannur, Inner Mongolia.
  • Developed by China Huaneng, this pioneering project integrates wind power and solar PV to reduce desert expansion and transform barren desert landscapes into thriving ecosystems while generating clean, sustainable energy.

The project will deploy a total capacity of 485 MW of JA Solarโ€™s advanced DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules. Designed specifically to endure extreme heat and harsh desert conditions, these modules have been rigorously tested to meet IEC standards and exceed performance benchmarks. DeepBlue 4.0 Proโ€™s exceptional durability in high-temperature environments and under severe weather challenges makes it ideal for both desert applications and installations in arid regions worldwide.

DeepBlue 4.0 Pro is demonstrating its resilience in some of the most challenging environments on the planet: from the scorching heat of the Sahara and Atacama deserts to desert regions in China including the western Inner Mongolia, Kubuqi, and Ulan Buh deserts. With a vertically integrated production chain that leverages lean manufacturing and digitalized production facilities, JA Solar ensures that every module made can withstand extreme conditions while delivering optimal energy performance.

The โ€œwind+ solar PV + desert rehabilitationโ€ initiative represents a unique blend of renewable energy development and ecological restoration. In addition to generating clean electricity, the project will implement innovative vegetation planting beneath and between the PV modules to stabilise shifting sands and foster local flora. This dual approach not only enhances the ecological value of the area but also brings significant economic benefits to the region, setting a new benchmark for sustainable development.

Reflecting on JA Solarโ€™s commitment, JA Solar Executive President Aiqing Yang stated, โ€œWe are honoured to drive this transformative project, demonstrating JA Solarโ€™s unwavering commitment to environmental protection, desert rehabilitation, and continuous innovation. Our DeepBlue 4.0 Pro modules, engineered to excel in extreme conditions, testify to our mission to turn barren deserts into vibrant, green landscapes. This project encapsulates our vision of leading the renewable energy revolution and fostering sustainable development worldwide.โ€

Green Building Africa promotes the need for net carbon zero buildings and cities in Africa. We are fiercely independent and encourage outlying thinkers to contribute to the #netcarbonzero movement. Climate change is upon us and now is the time to react in a more diverse and broader approach to sustainability in the built environment. We challenge architects, property developers, urban planners, renewable energy professionals and green building specialists. We also challenge the funding houses and regulators and the role they play in facilitating investment into green projects. Lastly, we explore and investigate new technology and real-time data to speed up the journey in realising a net carbon zero environment for our children.
