- JA Energy Storage is scaling its Solar + Storage + X strategy for commercial and industrial energy users.
- The company has deployed projects in Italy, Kenya and China across agriculture, EV charging and weak grid environments.
- Its JAPlanet system supports grid connected, off grid and hybrid applications with up to 88% system efficiency.
JA Energy Storage is expanding its commercial and industrial battery energy storage system offering through a Solar + Storage + X strategy that integrates battery storage with solar PV, EV charging, diesel generation, microgrids and a range of on site energy loads.
The company said the approach is aimed at commercial and industrial customers facing volatile electricity prices, limited grid connection capacity, rising EV charging demand and growing requirements for reliable power supply.
JA Energy Storage has already deployed projects across public infrastructure, agriculture and weak grid markets. These include a solar storage charging project at Shanghai Fengxian Customs in China, storage applications in car parks and community facilities in Baotou in Inner Mongolia, a solar and storage installation for an aquaculture project in Sicily, Italy, and a solar storage diesel microgrid project for a farm in Kenya.
At the centre of the company’s portfolio is the JAPlanet energy storage system, which is designed for grid connected, off grid and hybrid applications. The platform supports peak shaving, PV self-consumption, demand management, capacity expansion, backup power and microgrid operation.
The system is built on a modular 125 kW and 261 kWh configuration targeting small and medium sized commercial and industrial projects. Up to 20 units can operate in parallel in grid connected mode, enabling scalability for larger energy applications.
JAPlanet also supports high and low voltage ride through as well as black start functionality, allowing it to operate in locations with unstable grid conditions and varying backup power requirements.
The system uses lithium iron phosphate battery technology with a cycle life exceeding 8,000 cycles. JA Energy Storage said its liquid cooling system maintains cell temperature differences within ±1.5 C to improve battery consistency and reduce degradation. Overall system efficiency can reach up to 88%.
Safety features include millisecond level coordinated protection, online insulation monitoring, a three level fire alarm system, pack level detection and thermal runaway warning capabilities. The battery and electrical compartments are physically separated to reduce the risk of thermal propagation.
The company said JAPlanet also includes advanced operation and maintenance functions such as battery status estimation, online monitoring, passive balancing and pre-configured operating strategies for time of use optimisation, demand management, PV self-consumption, microgrid operation and backup power.
Additional features include remote diagnostics, cloud based monitoring, software upgrades and AI enabled predictive maintenance aimed at reducing on site maintenance requirements and improving system availability.
JA Energy Storage said it plans to launch its next generation commercial and industrial energy storage product at the SNEC exhibition in June. The company said the new platform will deliver improvements in adaptability, safety, efficiency, lifecycle performance and intelligent operation to further strengthen its Solar + Storage + X strategy for commercial and industrial users.
