The multi-generational Platreef mine complex located in Limpopo province, is under construction with commissioning expected Q4 2025.

Ivanhoe Mines recently announced that they will be procuring substantial solar PV and battery storage supply for its Kamoa-Kakula copper mine in the DRC which will ensure continuity of power supply at the site, where the commissioning of a smelter has been delayed by power supply problems.

The company reports that operations at the Kamoa-Kakula Copper Complex and the Kipushi Zinc Mine, as well as exploration activities in the Western Forelands, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) are business as usual.

โ€œIvanhoeโ€™s operations have not been impacted by the recent rebel activity in north-east DRC, which is contained to the North and South Kivu provinces, located approximately 1,500 kilometres from Kolwezi in the DRC Copperbelt,โ€ the company said in a statement.
