GET FiT Mozambique Starts to GET Traction

  • Recent stakeholder workshop sees 100 attendees, most of which were international, regional and national IPPs.
  • Strong support revealed from Government stakeholders for renewable energy projects.

GET FiT Mozambique is gaining real traction! A successful stakeholder workshop took place on the 12th October 2018 with a turnout of 100 participants, most of which were international, regional and national IPPs. The IPPs represented all RE technologies (solar, wind, hydro and biomass) and confirmed their interest in investing in Renewable energy (RE) in Mozambique.

Julia Crause, Director, KfW Mozambique further adds “ the general feedback is that the GET FiT approach is a very good tool to address their needs and reduce investment risks. The Government has also shown strong commitment with the Vice-Minister of the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy present and fully supportive of GET FiT. The national utility, Eletricidade de Moçambique (EDM), is also on board.”

Green Building Africa promotes the need for net carbon zero buildings and cities in Africa. We are fiercely independent and encourage outlying thinkers to contribute to the #netcarbonzero movement. Climate change is upon us and now is the time to react in a more diverse and broader approach to sustainability in the built environment. We challenge architects, property developers, urban planners, renewable energy professionals and green building specialists. We also challenge the funding houses and regulators and the role they play in facilitating investment into green projects. Lastly, we explore and investigate new technology and real-time data to speed up the journey in realising a net carbon zero environment for our children.
