The 15-month programme in Electrical Network Control, offers a structured learnership that blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on training in renewable energy technologies. This initiative addresses critical skills shortages in the green economy and champions inclusivity, transforming lives and building pathways to financial independence.

โ€œThis partnership is a testament to our commitment to creating opportunities for individuals who are often excluded from the job market,โ€ said Robyn Vilakazi, EWSETAโ€™s Executive for Skills Development and Quality Assurance.

โ€œBy equipping participants with the skills they need to thrive, we are driving meaningful change and unlocking potential in South Africaโ€™s renewable energy sector, โ€ adds Vilakazi.

This initiative aligns with the South African governmentโ€™s National Development Plan 2030 and global efforts such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), which prioritises inclusivity and skills development as drivers of economic growth. The renewable energy sector, a cornerstone of the countryโ€™s green economy, holds vast opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship. The Veer Energy Programme ensures that no one is left behind.

Green Building Africa promotes the need for net carbon zero buildings and cities in Africa. We are fiercely independent and encourage outlying thinkers to contribute to the #netcarbonzero movement. Climate change is upon us and now is the time to react in a more diverse and broader approach to sustainability in the built environment. We challenge architects, property developers, urban planners, renewable energy professionals and green building specialists. We also challenge the funding houses and regulators and the role they play in facilitating investment into green projects. Lastly, we explore and investigate new technology and real-time data to speed up the journey in realising a net carbon zero environment for our children.
