  • The Eswatini Energy Regulatory Authority (ESERA) has released a request for an expression of interest (EOI) for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Bulimeni Solar PV-Battery Mini-grids System.ย

The EOI is available from both the Eswatini Energy Regulatory Authority (ESERA) (https://www.esera.org.sz/minigrids/tenders/) and the Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (ESPPRA) (https://esppra.co.sz/sppra/tender.php) websites. The EOI closesย 12 noon (SAST) on Friday, 23 August 2024.

A biddersโ€™ conference will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. Bidders should RSVP to amptenders@esera.org.sz ย to register their interest for the event.

Eswatini has released multiple solar pv tenders over the years without any result. This is largely because the treasury does not offer sovereign debt cover in the event of the off-taker, the Eswatini Electricity Company, defaulting on a power purchase agreement.

Eswatini relies on electricity imports from South Africa and Mozambique to meet its energy demand. Read more on Eswatini’s energy sector HEREย

Good luck!

Green Building Africa promotes the need for net carbon zero buildings and cities in Africa. We are fiercely independent and encourage outlying thinkers to contribute to the #netcarbonzero movement. Climate change is upon us and now is the time to react in a more diverse and broader approach to sustainability in the built environment. We challenge architects, property developers, urban planners, renewable energy professionals and green building specialists. We also challenge the funding houses and regulators and the role they play in facilitating investment into green projects. Lastly, we explore and investigate new technology and real-time data to speed up the journey in realising a net carbon zero environment for our children.
