- South Africa’s state owned energy utility, Eskom, has set the record straight regarding an article titled “Transfer of Eskom power supply to Centlec and three towns gets green light in Mangaung’s board,” published by Netwerk24 on 02 September 2024.
Eskom acknowledges the intention of Centlec and the support from the Mangaung Council for Centlec to take over the electricity supply to Thaba Nchu, Wepener, and Soutpan. The utility said they have not been consulted on this matter and reserve their rights regarding the regulatory process related to licensing and the transfer of supply areas.
Eskom said it wanted to reassure their customers in these regions that they remain responsible for their electricity needs and is committed to ensuring a continued reliable electricity supply.
