- Eskom chairperson Mteto Nyati has been named the 2025 Chairman of the Year at the 13th All Africa Business Leaders Awards, held on 12 November 2025.
- The award recognises leadership, strategic direction and governance, qualities that have been credited with helping steer Eskom toward greater stability and progress in recent years.
Accepting the award, Nyati said the recognition was a collective achievement. “This honour does not belong to me alone; it belongs to every Eskom employee who has worked through the night to keep the lights on, to every member of the exceptional board appointed in October 2022, and to the Exco that has walked this difficult road with us—shoulder to shoulder,” he said.
Eskom’s leadership has received several honours in recent years, reflecting a broader narrative of resilience, innovation and accountability within African business. Nyati’s latest accolade is being viewed as further acknowledgment of the utility’s ongoing efforts to improve performance and strengthen its future outlook.
Eskom extended its appreciation to Nyati, noting that his leadership has contributed to efforts aimed at ensuring the organisation is in a stronger position than before and remains committed to “powering a brighter future for South Africa and beyond.”
