  • The shipment marks the first end to end commercial delivery of green ammonia from renewable hydrogen production to maritime export.
  • The cargo originates from the world’s largest green hydrogen ammonia production facility in Inner Mongolia.
  • The project currently produces 320000 tons of green ammonia annually with capacity expected to reach 1.5 million tons per year by 2028.

Global green technology company Envision Energy has launched the world’s first commercial shipment of green ammonia from Chifeng in Inner Mongolia, China, to chemical producer LOTTE Fine Chemical in South Korea, marking a major milestone in the development of the global green hydrogen economy.

The cargo originates from Envision’s Chifeng facility, currently recognised as the world’s largest green hydrogen ammonia production base. The project integrates renewable power generation, hydrogen production, ammonia synthesis and international maritime logistics, creating the first fully operational commercial value chain for green ammonia exports.

The industrial park operates on a 100% renewable energy system powered by wind and solar resources in the Gobi Desert. Envision deploys physical artificial intelligence technology to coordinate renewable energy supply and maintain a stable power flow for hydrogen and ammonia production.

According to Yimin Lou, Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer at Envision Energy, the shipment represents a significant step in moving green ammonia from concept to commercial reality.

“This vessel carries more than just ammonia. It carries our commitment to a sustainable future,” Lou said. “By successfully launching this first shipment, Envision has demonstrated that the green ammonia value chain is now a reality. By harnessing the renewable resources of the Gobi Desert we are able to deliver zero carbon fuel to global markets, starting with our partners in South Korea.”

Seung Won Chung, CEO of LOTTE Fine Chemical, said the commercial introduction of green ammonia is attracting strong international interest.

“The world’s first commercial launch of green ammonia is drawing global attention beyond the company and national level,” Chung said. “This milestone represents the starting point for establishing a green hydrogen and ammonia value chain, which is considered a key solution for the transition to carbon free energy.”\

The Chifeng project currently delivers 320000 tons of green ammonia annually, with export shipments scheduled to begin in Q4 2025. Envision is also offering a proprietary technology platform covering the full value chain for green hydrogen and ammonia production.

By 2028 the industrial park is expected to reach annual production of 1.5 million tons of green ammonia, positioning the facility as a scalable model for future clean industrial hubs globally.

Envision’s green ammonia has received multiple international certifications and complies with leading industry standards including ISCC EU, ISCC PLUS and RFNBO.

The company also integrates proprietary artificial intelligence technology into its wind to hydrogen system to optimise the conversion of renewable electricity into green molecules, improving efficiency and reliability across the production process.
