  • Enpower Trading has signed a 5 year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Mpact Operations (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Mpact Limited (“Mpact”).
  • The agreement, which will see Enpower Trading supply 30 GWh per annum of clean, renewable energy sourced from SolarAfrica Energy’s SunCentral solar photovoltaic plant located in De Aar, in the Northern Cape, marks a pivotal step in Mpact’s commitment to sustainable practices and will power its Felixton, Mkhondo, and Springs paper mills in South Africa.

This PPA underscores both companies’ dedication to fostering a greener economy and enhancing energy security through sustainable solutions. The partnership will enable Mpact to reduce its carbon footprint by an estimated 30,000 tonnes of CO2 a year and facilitate its transitioning to renewable energy sources for its critical manufacturing processes.

Mpact is the largest paper and plastics packaging and recycling business in southern Africa, headquartered in Johannesburg and listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE: MPT). The company employs over 4,500 people and operates 38 sites across South Africa, Namibia, and Mozambique, including 21 manufacturing and 14 recycling facilities. Mpact’s integrated business model focuses on closing the loop in plastic and paper packaging through recycling and beneficiation of recyclables. In 2024, the company collected approximately 588,228 tonnes of recyclable materials, including paper, plastic, glass, beverage cans, and liquid board packaging.
