- Enos Banda has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of ENERTRAG South Africa.
“I am excited to step into the role of CEO at ENERTRAG South Africa during a period of rapid transformation and notable grid challenges in the energy sector,” says Enos Banda. “Our goal is to drive meaningful change by leveraging the ENERTRAG global innovations and pioneering work that I’ve been involved in on the South African grid development and investment. I believe now, more than ever, global innovation, local expertise and collaboration are key to achieving a successful energy transition,” said Enos.
Enos brings decades of experience in the energy sector. He is a former chairman of the energy regulator, has worked as a senior executive in the energy industry, and led both listed and unlisted companies as a senior executive or board member. Recently he founded Green Transmission Company, which has started working on grid infrastructure development in South Africa, and which will explore collaboration with ENERTRAG. He is a thought leader and, in a career spanning over two decades, has expressed his leadership through a balance of entrepreneurship in the private sector, government, academia, and the nonprofit sector.
Dr Tobias Bischof-Niemz, a member of ENERTRAG management board, describes the appointment as a bold new chapter for our South African operations, where we’ve developed a substantial renewables pipeline. “Under Enos’ leadership, we are reinforcing our commitment to driving innovation and delivering sustainable energy solutions to South Africa, especially in the coal region of Mpumalanga,” said Bischof-Niemz.
