  • 100 MW solar plant will be developed through a public private partnership with the Government of Zimbabwe.
  • Project aims to strengthen regional energy supply and support mining and industrial demand in Kwekwe.

Munyati Evergreen Energy has advanced the 100 MW Munyati Solar Plant beyond the planning stage at the Munyati Power Station in Zimbabwe’s Midlands province, with active site establishment and early works now underway. The development marks a key step toward full construction readiness and the eventual installation of photovoltaic capacity at the site.

The project is being implemented in partnership with the Republic of Zimbabwe under a public private partnership structure, reflecting growing government and private sector collaboration in expanding the country’s renewable energy base. The solar facility is located in central Midlands province near the existing Munyati thermal power station, positioning it within an established energy generation corridor.

Once completed, the plant is expected to improve regional energy resilience by adding new generation capacity to the grid and reducing supply constraints affecting industrial users. The project is also expected to play a supporting role in strengthening electricity availability for mining and industrial operations in Kwekwe, where power reliability remains a critical factor for output and investment.

The development forms part of a broader renewable energy expansion trend in Zimbabwe’s Midlands, following the commissioning of the 10.8 MW Glovers Solar Park. This momentum reflects increasing deployment of utility scale solar projects aimed at diversifying the national energy mix and improving grid stability.
