CGM Power Group issues EPC tender for 50MW solar PV/battery project in Northern Zambia

  • Independent power producer, CGM Power Group (CGM) has released and EPC tender for an expression of interest to develop a 50MW solar pv plus battery plant in Chipili, Luapula province, northern Zambia.
  • With land secured, the chosen company will be responsible for all development works, construction, testing and commissioning plus operate and maintain the project.

Transmission lines will be built to connect to the Mwenda Zesco substation 29 km away, as well as a solar plant at the Luongo Mine, located 22 km away.

The first stage of the tender is a request for prequalification, to be followed by a second stage which will require prequalified applicants to complete a request for proposals. The deadline for submissions is 14 June 2024. 

CGM is an independent power producer that was incorporated in 2016. Its current objective is to deliver renewable solar energy as an Independent Power Producer. In pursuit of this, CGM has since acquired land for development of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), for 2 Solar Photovoltaic (PV) plants in Luapula Province, namely, Chipili Power corporation Limited and Mansa Power Development Limited.
