- Dr Mokoka has been appointed Group Chief Executive Officer of the Central Energy Fund following his tenure as Acting CEO.
- The Board says his leadership will strengthen energy security, strategic growth and operational performance.
- The appointment comes as CEF continues to expand its role in supporting South Africa’s energy transition and economic development.
The Board of the Central Energy Fund (CEF) has appointed Dr Mokoka as Group Chief Executive Officer, confirming his leadership of the state owned energy company following a successful period as Acting CEO.
Dr Mokoka assumed the acting role after the departure of former Group CEO Dr Poolo, during which he oversaw business continuity, organisational stability and the delivery of the group’s strategic objectives.
He holds a PhD in Economics and brings extensive executive leadership experience, governance expertise and a strong understanding of South Africa’s energy sector. The Board said his appointment reinforces CEF’s commitment to strengthening national energy security while supporting economic growth.
Board Chairperson Ayanda Noah said the Board was confident Dr Mokoka would lead the organisation through its next phase of growth and transformation.
“His proven leadership, strategic insight and commitment to public service position him well to lead the CEF Group as we continue delivering on our mandate of ensuring security of energy supply and supporting national development,” she said.
The Board expects Dr Mokoka to drive the implementation of CEF’s strategic priorities, strengthen the group’s contribution to South Africa’s energy security and support its broader developmental mandate through innovation, operational excellence and strategic partnerships.
Noah also encouraged employees across CEF and its subsidiaries to support the new Group CEO.
“The success of the CEF Group depends on the collective efforts of every employee. Together, we will continue building a resilient, innovative and high performing organisation that delivers lasting value for South Africa,” she said.
The Board said it looks forward to working with Dr Mokoka to deliver sustainable growth, strengthen CEF’s impact and reinforce the organisation’s strategic role in securing South Africa’s energy future.
