The project is a 25MW grid-tied solar initiative and could become the country’s first project by an Independent Power Producer (IPP). It is being developed by Neo Themis, which is led by CEO Neside Tas Anvaripour.
This landmark project is poised to play a pivotal role in supporting the Gambian government’s ambitious goal for 50% renewable energy by 2030 and sets an important precedent for private investments in the sector.

REPP 2 TAF will support both the project and Neo Themis’s corporate structure. This funding will assist with environmental and social studies, legal advisory, structuring support, financial model reviews and pipeline valuation, as well as fundraising assistance.

The support is drawn from REPP 2 TAF’s Pillar 1, which backs project development, and Pillar 2, which empowers women renewable energy developers in Sub-Saharan Africa and is aligned with 2X’s Gender Lens Investing criteria.

REPP 2 TAF was set up to help accelerate the growth of Sub-Saharan African markets for renewable energy and energy access. It is funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
