In a message to its members, the Green Building Council South Africa has announced the resignation of its Managing Executive, Sector Development & Transformation and former Technical Director, Manfred Braune.
Braune will also retire as an executive director from the GBCSA board to pursue what he calls his next sustainability challenge in life. Manfred has been responsible for directing all technical, training and research related aspects at the Green Building Council South Africa since 2010, and before that was a director at WSP Green by Design, the consultancy responsible for the first 4 certified green buildings in South Africa.
Manfredโs departure comes at a time when certified green building activity is in decline globally. The GBCSA has come under much criticism lately for the absence of performance based outcomes in their features based rating tools, which were imported under licence from the Australian Green Building Council.
