  • Axian Energy, the power and infrastructure subsidiary of the pan-African Axian Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Chad’s Ministry of Energy and Water to develop a large-scale solar power project in the capital, N’Djamena.
  • The agreement paves the way for the construction of a 100-MWp solar plant supported by a 50-MWh battery storage system, part of a national effort to expand clean-energy production as electricity demand rises and the country continues to rely heavily on thermal generation.

The project, developed in partnership with Green Energy Solutions, is expected to produce more than 180 GWh of renewable electricity each year—enough to supply over 150,000 households. Preliminary estimates indicate it will offset nearly 120,000 tonnes of CO₂ annually, aligning with Chad’s climate-action commitments and broader energy-transition goals.

In a statement, Axian Energy said the MoU marks an important milestone in strengthening Chad’s renewable-energy infrastructure and improving long-term grid stability through integrated battery storage. The collaboration with Green Energy Solutions forms part of a broader strategy by both companies to scale up utility-scale clean-energy assets across Central Africa.

The solar facility will be built in N’Djamena, with its 100-MWp generation capacity supported by the 50-MWh storage system to ensure more reliable power delivery.
