  • Arusha Technical College in Tanzania plans to build a 10 MW solar farm to service campus needs and train students.
  • The project will be developed through a partnership between ATC and International Solar Alliance.

โ€œApart from harnessing solar dynamism to produce electricity, the proposed farm is also going to be part of the Center of Excellence training portal for clean and renewable energy,โ€ said Ally Ngulugulu, ย head of the Arusha Technical College.

The project will be part of the ATC Kikuletwa Renewable Energy Training and Research Center and will be executed within the framework of the Eastern Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP), so far enrolling 75 students. The modern training and energy production hub, located on the western side of the lower reaches of Mount Kilimanjaro also handles hydroelectricity, wind power and biomass energy, for production of renewable energy from organic materials.

Green Building Africa promotes the need for net carbon zero buildings and cities in Africa. We are fiercely independent and encourage outlying thinkers to contribute to the #netcarbonzero movement. Climate change is upon us and now is the time to react in a more diverse and broader approach to sustainability in the built environment. We challenge architects, property developers, urban planners, renewable energy professionals and green building specialists. We also challenge the funding houses and regulators and the role they play in facilitating investment into green projects. Lastly, we explore and investigate new technology and real-time data to speed up the journey in realising a net carbon zero environment for our children.
