Somalia issues EPC tender for 10MW solar PV project with 20MWh of battery energy storage

  • The government of Somalia request for bids for design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of 10MWp solar PV power plant with 20MWh of battery energy storage system including a 9km of 33kV evacuation line for NESCOM, Garowe, Puntland State.

The Federal Government of Somalia has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Somali Electricity Sector Recovery Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the Contracts for Design, Supply, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning of 10MWp Solar PV Power Plant with 20MWh of Battery Energy Storage System including a 9km of 33kV Evacuation line for NECSOM, Garowe, Puntland State, Somalia. For this contract, the Borrower shall process the payments using the Direct Payment disbursement method, as defined in the World Bank’s Disbursement Guidelines for Investment Project Financing except for those payments which the contract provides to be made through letter of credit.

The Ministry of Energy and Water Resources now invites sealed Bids from eligible Bidders 

The project’s delivery period is Fifteen (15) to Eighteen (18) months from the effective date.

Bidding will be conducted through international competitive procurement using a Request for Bids (RFB) as specified in the World Bank’s “Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers” dated September 2023 (“Procurement Regulations”) and is open to all eligible Bidders as defined in the Procurement Regulations.
