MTN Nigeria partners with First WATT to deploy 34 MW of solar and battery storage

  • MTN Nigeria has signed a renewable energy partnership with First WATT Renewable Limited.
  • The project will deploy 34 MW of solar capacity and 40 MWh of battery storage across critical network sites.
  • Renewable energy systems will also support electric vehicle charging infrastructure at selected locations.

MTN Nigeria has partnered with First WATT Renewable Limited to reduce the carbon footprint of its operations through the deployment of renewable energy infrastructure across its network.

Under the agreement, First WATT will install 34 MW of solar generation capacity together with 40 MWh of battery energy storage at several of MTN Nigeria’s critical sites. The project is expected to improve energy resilience while reducing dependence on conventional power sources.

The partnership also includes the supply of renewable energy systems to power electric vehicle charging infrastructure at selected MTN locations, supporting the company’s broader sustainability and clean mobility objectives.
