Mozambique tenders for four solar/BESS minigrids

  • Mozambique has announced a tender program for mini-grids with solar photovoltaic system (“PV”) and battery energy storage systems (“BESS”) to be implemented by Autoridade Reguladora de Energia (“ARENE”).

ARENE now intends to select between two (2) to (4) four experienced and qualified Mini-Grid Developers to finance, design, construct, own, operate, maintain and transfer four (4) Lots of Mini-grids with a total installed capacity of up to 3 MW in the Nampula province through an International Competitive Bidding (“ICB”) process with Prequalification to be implemented under the laws of the Republic of Mozambique in consideration of KfW´s “Guidelines for the Procurement of Consulting Services, Works, Plant, Goods and Non-Consulting Services in Financial Cooperation with Partners” (2021), as updated from time to time. Each Lot will include various Mini-grids each with a planned installed capacity of between 25 kWp and 100 kWp and BESS (each a ” Sub-Project”), Under this Prequalification Process, a maximum of eight (8) Applicants may be shortlisted.
