Mantashe gazettes seismic survey for petroleum in Karoo Basin

  • South Africaโ€™s Minister of Mineral and Petroleum Resources, Gwede Mantashe, has published notice in South Africaโ€™s government gazette for a seismic survey investigation for oil and gas in the Karoo Basin.
  • Written comments are invited.

The methods used will be 2-D seismic data profiling, airborne magnetic survey and magneto-telluric survey. These techniques are not invasive and do not require deep drilling.
