JA Solar has showcased an integrated solar storage and electric vehicle charging solution through the China Fengxian Customs Rooftop PV Storage Project, demonstrating how coordinated energy systems can support low carbon transformation in public sector facilities.
Guided by JA Energy Storage’s Solar plus Storage plus X strategy, the project combines photovoltaic generation, battery storage and charging infrastructure into a single coordinated system. The approach is designed to maximise the value of solar energy by extending its use across multiple applications, including on site consumption, grid export and future mobility needs.
The installation operates as an efficient and quiet microgrid that prioritises self consumption while allowing surplus electricity to be fed into the grid. It is equipped with 166 high efficiency JA Solar modules rated at 630 Wp, delivering a total installed capacity of 104.58 kWp DC. The system also includes a 100 kW and 232 kWh energy storage unit, with intelligent operation enabled through system level coordination using the JANebula cloud edge platform.
Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate approximately 99,900 kWh of clean electricity each year. Over its lifecycle, total generation is projected to reach nearly 2.5 million kWh. This output will reduce coal consumption by more than 30 tonnes annually and cut carbon dioxide emissions by over 99 tonnes per year.
